Tinned cod liver

Tinned cod liver has a rich, creamy texture like foie gras. Caught in the waters off Iceland, canned cod liver is nutrition-packed. Its soft, delicate texture means it can be spread like a pâté on toast with black pepper and chopped parsley or diced and added to salads.

How do you serve canned cod liver?

Add salt, pepper and chopped herbs and crush it with a fork and make it into a pâté to spread on crackers and toast. Its robust flavour means it pairs well with boiled eggs and chopped onion for another spread. Add it to salads too with peppery watercress or rocket and cucumber. Or add the conservas to a side of rice mixed with chopped herbs.

Can you eat canned cod liver every day?

The NHS recommends eating at least two portions of fish each week, one of them oily. A portion is about 140g or about a tin and a half.
